A war that ended nothing... This would never have happened in WWI. There was not the fanaticism of the Nazis, and pilots would only ever use their sidearm if they themselves were threatened. yes, they did try to get back to their own lines, but if they were captured, and especially if they were rescued from a burning plane, they just would never have shot their rescuers. 2 The water fall. I mean, wtf? That part of France is not only pretty much completely flat (as is obvious from the other scenes) but you also see that it is chalky (in almost the very next scene. Now thing about it. How many streams, let alone rivers, do you see on chalk land? The previous scenes show a canal, not a river, yet we all-of-a-sudden find a large river with a big waterfall.

I didn't know logs and trees were such a problem in WW1. A fallen log was used as a plot device at least 3 times, maybe more.
I went for the novelty of seen the single 2 hour tracking shot, you can clearly see the "tricks" used to accomplish this illusion. It just ended up being a distraction to the story. Those who say the cinematography was great, I guess. They failed to give any scale to the battlefield, they needed to pull back and show us the world. Most of us don't know what WW1 looked like. My wife said it felt like we were watching someone play a video game. And she's right. When the main character was shot by the incompetent German sniper, Someone In the theater even said "game over! Unrealistic?Two men caught in a huge explosion in a tunnel, one is literally buried under what looked like at least 1 pound of rock, stones dirt, and rubble, emerges with little more than dusty eyes. I feel like when he hesitates before getting out of the trench and start to run across the field is not so much fear of dying but fear of not achieving his two missions - delivering the order to mckenzie and finding Blake's brother.
